MD1200 misconfiguration?

We have 4 MD1200s, (#1-#4), each containing 12 drives in, providing 4  RAID6 arrays. 

How the EMMs are cabled is a question.  There seems to be no documentation to suggest the following is possible, but the arrays work fine.

Here is the cabling configuration:  The output of  MD1200 #1 EMM0 is plugged into the input on MD1200 #1 EMM1, and the output of MD1200 #1 EMM1 is plugged into the input of MD1200 #2 EMM0 and MD1200 #2 EMM0 output is plugged into MD1200 #2 EMM1 and so forth. 

Does this configuration present a problem?   If so, how can it be reconfigured without loosing the virtual disks?
