R820 & PS6110 - 10Gbe transceivers

I picked up a used PS6110 & the type 14 controller apparently only connects at 10Gbe (would not negotiate down to 1Gbe).  The server I will connect this to is an R820 & I have a procurve 5406zl switch.  I am trying to figure out what transceivers I should buy to connect the 6110 to 5406zl/R820.

The switch has got an X2 zl module (J8707A) which has J8436A  (which are 10Gbe SFP SC-SR). Would any generic 10Gbe 850nm SFP+ SR transceiver would work here (say a Finisar FTLF8528P2BNV-E5 ) or do I hneed specific models?  If I need Dell models -is there a preference between (1) Dell 09DKZJ, (2) Dell  0WTRD1

The R820 has 2x QLogic BCM57800 10gbe ports. Would the same SFP work in the R820 as well? Needless to say, this is my first time into optiocal connections. Thanks.

Hi @CU.Dell.User,

I tried to search for SFP+ compatibility for PS6110, but there is none documented. Which may mean it can accommodate to generic models. But for BCM57800, it did manage to show DPN: C5RNH for SFP+ 10GbE SR compatible for the card and R820. Attach link for PS Storage Compatibility Matrix reference in any time you needed: https://dell.to/3O0V8sc

Hello,

The general rule is ensure they are compatible with the switch.  And the types are the same, long range to long range, or short to short
