PS4100 Upgrade

I am looking at getting a PS4100 with 1GBe of controllers. Is it possible to convert PS4100 into PS4110 by changing the controllers? Just like we do with the PS6000 to PS6010 or PS6500 to PS6510? I need to have 10GB of controllers for my network environment.

Which controllers I can use on the PS4100 to have 10GBe. It isn't supported, nor is EqualLogic nowadays :D.

Thank you very much.

Once it is installed, I would need to reset and re-add it into the group manager then?

Hello,

it should already have been reset before you install the CMs.  Then you can configure it and add it to a group or create a new group.  I would not mix 10GbE and GbE in the same pool.  You can move volumes between the pool as you move servers to 10GbE if you haven't already

Hello,

It was never officially offered or supported.   The array would have to be reset to factory defaults first.  Then powered down and boith controllers replaced.

It has to be the 4110 controllers.  Not the newer 4210 or 6210 controllers.   Known as Type 17  PN: 70-0478   There is a small board that holds some large capacitors.  Check those on the new controllers.  There some early versions for both the 4100 and 4110 that would fail.  When that happens it shows as a 'cache battery' failure in the GUI.

Since my other SAN is 10GB, I am looking to get the PS4100 converted to PS4110 by changing to Type 17 controllers. This would allow 10GB and better connection to the other SAN.

Hello,

Makes sense, what is the other array?
