SRDF/CE GateKeeper Question
Two questions for anyone running SRDF/CE for MSCS regarding GateKeepers:
1. I have heard to provision 6 GateKeepers per cluster node. I also have heard to provision 6 GateKeepers per cluster node and per cluster resource group. Does anyone have any insight on these two comments as to what _REALLY_ is recommended?
2. When assigning a LUN number to a GateKeeper, what best practices have you been following. We start from the 0FF and work down. Does anyone leave gaps between LUN numbers for each host to allocate to in the event additional gate keepers are needed or is that not necessary?

1. 6 GKs for all groups.
2. 6 GKs shared to all HBAs in this cluster host. If not, then if 1 HBA lost connection and followed a server reboot, physical disk number may be changed on Windows! Then quorum disk # change may lead cluster group failed to move.
3. same as above reason, lower GK addresses are recommended;

I did setup 4 or 5 SRDF/CE Microsoft clusters .. and they all have 6 GK for each node .. The customer seems to be happy ..
Maybe someone else have different experiences to share.

It's simply your taste .. I do start with 0xf0 going to 0xff .. And use 0xe0 for VCMDB .. But there isn't a real "best pratcitce" since GKs are simply SCSI disks from the host perspective. You can choose to be more creative and spread the 6 gk on 6 different FA .. and use the same LUN for the 6 GK on different FAs .. you can do whatever you want ..
