Powerlink interpreting/substitituting URL strings.

OK, maybe I'm just an idiot but:

I cut and pasted an URL to a solution note into a post. The URL was:

http://solutions.emc.com/nsepn/webapps/stqv768481dmts46655278/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg83637

This string appears correctly in the post, but the hyperlink that is created in the post goes to:

http://forums.emc.com/nsepn/webapps/stqv768481dmts46655278/nsepn/webapps/stqv768481dmts46655278/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg83637

If you examine the two URLs you'll see that "solutions.emc.com" has been replaced by "forums.emc.com/nsepn/webapps/stqv768481dmts46655278" and of course the link no longer leads anywhere.

Is this behaviour known, expected or desired? Is there something I should be doing so that I can post URLs that actually link where I want them to?

D.

ps I'd post a link to the thread where this happened, but I'm not sure it would lead where I expect. ;-)

HI Darrell,

you are right, in that Powelrink does interpret and substitute the URL strings. It does not handle the personlized URLs well.

However, this can be worked around.

Your URL:
http://solutions.emc.com/nsepn/webapps/stqv768481dmts46655278/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg83637

A "fixed" URL:
http://solutions.emc.com/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg83637

You can see that the '/nsepn[...]' string is inserted, and when you pasted that, it inserted it again, but with different session information.

We are away of this odd behavior, but I have no timeline for it being fixed.

Thanks,
Erich
