Window 7 Drivers for a Dimension 4700

Dad got windows 7 32 bit pro installed but can't update drivers or update windows ,etc. Because the Ethernet adapter needs a driver , so it can't connect to the internet.. looked under drivers downloads on the dell support web page, but didn't seem to be able to find one.. When you use the service tag it doesn't give any drivers for anything but windows xp that it shipped with.. Help.. There are 5 other drivers that are "missing" per the device manager.. but once it can connect to the internet.. that shouldn't be to hard to fix.. Thanks for your time

Hi,

Windows 7 compatible drivers are not available on support website.

Please let us know the device id and vendor id for unknown devices from device manager.

These two numbers can be used to track down specific device driver.

Thanks & Regards

The Dimension 4700 is equipped with the Intel PRO/100 VE NIC; according to Intel, the drivers are on the Windows 7 disk, but for good measure, they provide a download link.

1 2 3 4 going over dads tomorrow to try to fix this.. here is what the system device manager came up with.. see photo's Ethernet controller missing driver... now the link above.. after I download it to a c/d or dvd, how do I load it into the computer.. do I have to put it in a certain file/folder say for exp. c:/windows/drivers/ ??? or just copy it to the hard drive????? as you can see, many drivers are missing and hardware not working... H-E-L-P- THANKS FOR the replies so far and the ones after this post... the service tag info from the dell site didn't say much on what parts are in this unit.. so I'm guessing it was standard affair

For each device with an error select the details tab and under properties select hardware ids. Once we have these we can identify the device(s) and advise on the drivers.

It looks like the system drivers needed are just for ethernet and audio. The rest seem to be for a HP printer and also a camera.
