Scratch and Dent

As everyone knows, you can buy Dell computers at Dell Outlet at huge savings. Computers with "cosmetic flaws" are categorized as "scratch and dent" and they are the most disconted of all. My question is: "what exactly does "scratch and dent" mean? Does it mean someone took a hammer to the case, or does it mean a small scratch that you could probably paint or rub out?

They are all different.  Could be a small cosmetic issue or it could have been dented in transit, etc.

I doubt it is one tha someone got mad at and used a "bigger hammer"....

I have gotten 2 scratch and dent computers for relatives, It took a good looking over to find the scratch on each. one still have to look hard for the other is obvious now that we know were it is so it will vary, I doubt they would resell one that looks too bad though

You can return it, with a restocking fee of 15%...

People buy new ones because with a coupon offer, the new ones are nearly the same as the outlet machines, and people don't want something that someone else has used.  Until recently the Outlet didn't distinguish on the reason the computer was in the Outlet.

Depending on the model, you may get scratches shortly after buying a new one. :) May as well get a deal, eh?

My E6400 loves collecting scratches, and I treat my stuff like museum pieces.
