HEEELP!
Hi all.
Just a really weird one. I was given a Optiplex Gx620 *Desktop Version (the slightly smaller than tower) and I wish to put a new Power supply in, a little better would be good so I can get a little better graphics card.
It currently has only a 280watt PSU and On-Board Graphics.
This site has one, and I was wondering due to the strange shape of the PSU in my computer, is the description correct and it WILL infact fin in the desktop gx620?
The link is a Dell site, so I was guessing it would be ok, but looks nothing like the one inside my computer
If anyone has a solution or a suggestion for a compatible more powerful PSU (the site has not helped at all TBH)
or a 256Mb/512Mb graphics card that will run with my computer and 280 watt PSU would be much appreciated.
Thankyou

I use a Sapphire low profile 6570 with a 300-watt power supply, and I presume the same would work in your GX620.
I used a Sapphire 4650 low profile in a Studio 540s with 250-watt power supply for a year, with no troubles.

I would not see any point of upgrading just to have 25 more watts and spending $75 for the refurbished unit. Your power supply is a proprietary unit so you really do not have any other options. Your system can only use low profile video cards at 25 watts on the PCIe X16 bus so you are limited as to what will fit and work anyway. I would just go with an ATI Radeon HD 5450 which has a TDP of 19 watts. HERE is one to look at.

A Radeon HD6670 will work with the OPTIPLEX 620 Tower 305w power supply also. It will not be as fast however as a DDR3 INSPIRON 620 with Core I3 processor with the same card.

Thankyou very much rdunnill . Forgot to say I have Altered a bit in my computer, removed the Floppy and took the cradle and placed my HDD there to make more ventilation room etc. It has Windows XP pro service pack 3, 1GB RAM at the moment, Pentium 4 3.2Ghz processor etc..
I looked up the Sapphire 4650 low profile and this will suit my needs for the moment :)
again, thankyou heaps!
