Hard Drive Rail Screws

Just bought a second drive for my Precision470 workstation, and ordered the little green rails from Dell to mount it.  But one big problem, Dell did not send the necessary screws with the drive rails.  These are not the standard hard drive screws, they have a non-threaded shoulder under the head about 1/8" and then 1/8" of threads.  If I try standard hard drive screws the rails are mis-aligned with the case and do not go in.
Any one know the part number for these screws, I need them ASAP.
I have tried to call Dell, but 3 different people there all claim ignorance and cannot seem to help me with this problem.  I find it rather disappointing that Dell would allow a customer to go through this much hassle just for a bunch of lousy screws.

My suggestion to Dell, next time use standard screws, or include a bunch with the case.  Oh yeah that was an annoying thing too, my 470, purchased direct from Dell, had no extra rails or screws included.  I am currious why I did not get any, but I see other posts mentioning the had included rails and screws.

Did you ever find these screws? I have the same dilemma. These special screws are part of their new anti-vibration system. Nice system, but they need to make these more readily available. Poor planning from Dell.

Where did you order the green rails? I can't find them anywhere. Did you ever get the screws needed and if so where?

Thanks,

Yes I finally did get a hold of the screws after 3 incorrect shipments, and alot of phone calls.

To get the screws I had to call Dell tech support and work with them.  It seems that the Dell parts people are not able to sell or give you these screws.  Their only solution for me was to buy a HD kit from Dell.  Well take a look sometime, at the pricing.
-- This is a current price comparison for a 80GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA150 drive, which is what Dell uses.  Dell.com on sale $186.75 reg, $249.00 ----  CDW.com street price, no discounts $77.66.  WOW!  When I was talking to Dell about this issue their price was even higher, almost 4 times as much, I am curious if those screws were solid gold???

Well finally a nice woman told me that I should talk to tech support and they could help me, and they did.  All the techs I talked to tried their very best, but it was very obvious that they did not have all the information at hand needed to perform their jobs.  For that I do not blame them at all, BUT their management should all be fired immediately.  These techs were trying to provide me with good service, but I could tell they were pulling their hair out trying to find the part number for some lousy screws.  Dell management listen up, you are lucky to have the tech support guys I spoke with, get them the tools and info they need to do their jobs without all the hassle.

All told every person I spoke with in tech support was great, on a personal level they provided me with a level of service that was impressive, but on the other hand my opinion of Dell as a company is much less.  Dell not only failed a customer, but also its own employees.

Ok enough rant,  here is the crowd pleaser, part numbers:

For these items call Dell spare parts
                                         Part#      Desc.
Hard drive rails            21TUG - ASSY;RAIL;HD;TJD  --  $4.95
Optical drive rails         99XHM - ASSY;RAIL;RMSD;TJD  --  $4.95

For the screws below, I was only able to get them from Dell Tech Support
                                              Part#     Desc.
Shouldered HD screws   099YY - SCR;6-32x,188;SS;HDD;TJD  - No charge from tech support.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the info. I'll give themn a call and see how it goes.

More for the rant department: I bought these drives from Dell directly for this model PC, and still no screws. Or help.

Thanks again!

You got screwed by Dell those screws are for sale from Dell for $1.99 each. Also, you can get them on ebay, unless, like me, you need thousands of them. Bummer.
