Flashing yellow light?

I don't know much about this computer.

Model A280P-00

P/N AA24120L

DELL P/N P9550

I plugged in my scanner, and then everything went blank. I disconnected everything, and waited 15 min, just plugged in the power cord, nothing but the power cord, and touched nothing, and it was blinking yellow. Did I bend something when I plugged in the scanner? Could that be why it wont power up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My husband bought this from craigslist about 4 months ago, so I'm not sure of what model I am using. Sorry to be so lame about that.

You should mention the actual model name. All numbers you gave are for the power supply, not the computer. But you are probably on the right track. It does sound like a failed power supply unit. When you plugged in the scanner, what did you plug it into--usb port or what?

I found this: 280Watt Power Supply for Dell Optiplex GX620 GX280. Is the computer one of these? Very low powered psu. It might have been overloaded.

It should have a name on the front, probably Optiplex which is a business model. No matter--a flashing yellow light is usually a sign the power supply failed. Those used optiplex models usually have been used hard in business settings. It might have been just a coincidence that it failed when you attached the scanner. If I were you I'd use this as an excuse to buy a new computer! :emotion-5:

DUH on me. I looked and looked for a sticker, and there it was bold on the top of the front.  You were right, it was an Optiplex GX620.

Wish I could get a new one. Now I just need to fix it, so I can get off this dinosaur I'm using while the other one is down.
