Dell Optiplex 780 - RAM Issues

Hi, I recently decided to upgrade the memory in my computer because 4GB has started to become too small for what I need. So I bought four sticks of 4GB 1600MHz HyperX memory to total up to 16GB. I installed all four sticks and then powered it up, but there was no boot screen and the lights at the front had lit up the code 3 and 4. Apparently this indicates incompatible memory, but according to documentation and other forum posts I've read, I'm led to believe that everything should work. The clock speed and capacity are from what I've seen, compatible. Does anyone know what's wrong?

RAM: Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL10 240 Pin UDIMM Kit (2x4GB)

CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q9550

BIOS Revision: A15

1600MHz memory is not supported in this 8 year old model. From the training page =

The Optiplex 780 parts page also only list 1333MHz and 1067MHz Dell OEM 4GB memory sticks =
