Can Dell compare to PowerMac G5?

I'm looking to get a new computer, and am trying to see if dell has anything comprable to the Apple PowerMac G5 with dual processors at 2.5 GHZ. I currently have a PowerMac G4 dual 1.42 ghz, and use it for mostly video work in Final Cut Pro HD.

Does dell make any computers that are comprable in speed and cost to the G5? What program would I use on the windows computer if there is in fact one that is comprable to a G5 with Final Cut Pro HD?

Thanks!

I am not certain about the speeds but I do know the Apple's Final Cut software is probably best for video editing.

Adobe produces software that is overly complicated and stuffy imo.

I would say go for the G5 although it would probably cost you a lot more than a Dell system

I have yet to see anything 64 bit... I have asked many people about the hyperthreading, Nothing but good things to say.. But they are pinless chips, and run pretty hot... Dell has come up with a pretty elaborate cooling system. As far as benchmarking, I have seen any...

I do have a couple pics of the G-5 systemboard and processor as well as the workstation systemboard..  If you would like to see them just give me a place to send them..

Dual 1.7 GHZ G5? That isn't even offered as an option according to the apple site... either way, I'm wondering how the hyper-threading compares to the 64 bit processors in terms of speed....

The closest thing i can think of would be a Precision Workstation.. I have worked on both, The workstaton seems to have more problems with the processors, The G-5 on the other hand has systemboard problems...  i don't mean to alarm anyone, nothing wrong with either system, just that I have worked on both and put processors in the workstations and systemboards in the G-5's

So if you are the do it yourself type, I would steer away from the G-5 as it is a major pain to replace anything in it.. After you do get the hardware changed, the processors must be syncronized. You need special software from Apple, and it is about a 45 min process.. (if you don't do this, the fans will run at full speed all the time) But if you are the video/audio kinda person... The G-5 may be for you... they are extremly fast at what they do.. but for the price and the new hyperthreading cpu's the workstation might be the ticket... Take the side off that G-5 and it's the best looking pc on the market..

BTW: the G-5's have dual 1.7 gig and the workstations have dual zeon 2.8's  (at the very least) may be over 3 gig's

Any questions just ask...
