Repository Manager Catalog Contains no Idrac 7 for Poweredge R740 and no Bios 2.19.1

Hello Intel released again some Infromations regarding  CVE-2022-40982 https://downfall.page/ where also some Dell machines are affected. Dell recommends to update the affected systems in the security advisory released at August 2023 the 8th,   https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000216244/dsa-2023-261 . Unfortinaly all catalogs in the Dell Repository Manager does not contain Idrac 7 and Bios 2.19.1 (for example for the poweredge R740 and also R640)is there a reason? Ist it possible to update the catalogs so that it is included in der Dell RPM? We already have mutiple refreshed the catalogs but it is not in. We using Repomanager 3.4.3.869.

regards

Robert

Hello thanks for choosing Dell. The BIOS you're looking for  was release on Aug 8 and it may have not been updated on the catalogue. Would the link below help though?

Sincethe iDRAC update was released in June you think it would be in the latest catalog (Enterprise Server Catalog 23.08.25) but it's not, instead that has 6.10.80.00.

What gives?

The BIOS 2.19.1 is there though.

@delimiter Hello, thanks for choosing Dell.
As far as I know, 14G do not use iDRAC7 anymore.  iDRAC7 is 12G. Repo removed the catalog, as it's end of support. So anyone who needs this they will have to download manually.

Let me clarify.

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=kh4xx

is for iDRAC 7.00.00.00

and it lists R740 as compatible.

It's important to keep your server hardware and firmware up to date to address security vulnerabilities like CVE-2022-40982. I understand your concern regarding the missing iDRAC 7 and BIOS 2.19.1 updates in the Dell Repository Manager (DRM).

Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

  1. Check Dell Support Site Directly: If the updates you need are not appearing in the Dell Repository Manager, it's a good practice to check the Dell support website directly. Dell often releases updates on their support website before they are available in the Repository Manager. Manually download the iDRAC 7 and BIOS 2.19.1 updates from Dell's official support page for your specific PowerEdge server model.

  2. Ensure Correct Repository Selection: Double-check that you've selected the correct repository when refreshing the catalogs in the Dell Repository Manager. Sometimes, selecting a specific server model can help narrow down the available updates.

  3. Update Dell Repository Manager: Make sure you are using the latest version of the Dell Repository Manager. Sometimes, updating the software can resolve issues related to catalog updates.

  4. Contact Dell Support: If you are still unable to find the necessary updates in the Dell Repository Manager or on the Dell support website, consider reaching out to Dell's technical support for assistance. They can provide guidance on obtaining the required firmware updates and address any potential issues with the Repository Manager.

  5. Alternative Update Methods: In the event that you are unable to access the updates through the Repository Manager or the Dell support website, you can also consider using other methods to update the firmware. This may involve using Dell's Lifecycle Controller, iDRAC web interface, or manual installation methods.

  6. Review Dell Documentation: Occasionally, Dell may provide specific instructions or workarounds in their documentation for situations where updates are not available through the usual channels. Reviewing the documentation for your server model may provide additional insights.

Given that this is a security-related update, it's crucial to ensure that your systems are patched as soon as possible. Manually downloading and installing the updates from the Dell support website should be a viable solution if they are not available in the Dell Repository Manager.
