Uninstalled Dell encrption software to update to Windows 11

Hi,

For a while, i could not update my Windows 10, as the installer constantly failed for no reason. Upon researching the internet for the issue, it seems that this was linked with the Dell security/encrption software I had on my laptop.

Upon obtaining the uninstaller from Dell's webpage, i have uninstalled encryption software to enable this update.

However, i have missed clicking on 'decrpyt' when uninstalling the software, so i cannot access a lot of the files on my laptop after upgrading to Windows 11.

I have called various Dell support phone lines with regards to this issue, noone could help. Can you please clarify if there is  a way of decypting these files, via obtaining my previous Dell encyption profile config settings from a server?

Hi,

When you encrypted you would have been prompted to save the encyption keys.

If using SED called "OpalSPKey.DeviceName.Domain.recovery.dat"

If software called "LSARecovery_DeviceName.Domain" xml and exe file.

Without these there is no way to get back the data.  You should be able to clear and re-use the drive using manufacturer tools and PSID.
