Changes in the 11.2 release include:

  • A new policy, User PIN lifetime, has been added to the Operating System Volume Settings section in the Advanced Settings of the Bitlocker Encryption policy set. The User PIN lifetime policy sets the lifetime of the Bitlocker PIN, in hours, before it must be recreated. The default value of the User PIN lifetime policy is 2160 (90 days).
  • An issue is resolved so that all columns display in the Device Detail managed report.
  • A new column, Endpoint Group, has been added to several managed reports to allow administrators to view all endpoint groups that contain an endpoint. Records can be filtered based on the value of the endpoint group column.
  • An issue is resolved so that custom ports defined for TCP or UDP can be saved or committed in the Client Firewall policy set.
  • In Populations > Enterprise > Advanced Threat tab, Threat files can now be downloaded.

Dell Endpoint Security Log4J Assessment Update

Dell and its partners are currently working through validating and remediating any services that leverage vulnerable versions of Log4J.

What is the Log4Shell / Log4J vulnerability?

Log4j2 is a ubiquitous package contained in numerous Apache frameworks used by millions of applications. The vulnerability leverages JNDI, which provides an interface for different name resolution and directory services, such as DNS, LDAP, and several other services. Log4j2 insufficiently sanitizes user-supplied data, potentially allowing an attacker to provide a string that is interpreted as a variable that, when expanded, results in the loading and invocation of a remotely hosted executable or service. Whether a particular service is exploitable depends on its specific usage of Log4j2.
