Dell Security Management Server 10.2.13 Released

Dell Security Management Server 10.2.13 has been released and is available for download from the Dell support website. Information on how to download the latest version can be found in the How to Download Dell Security Management Server knowledge base article. The 10.2.13 release includes the new Self Service Recovery Portal which allows users with the appropriate role to download BitLocker recovery information themselves.

Additionally, an upgrade issue was identified with the initial Dell Security Management Server Virtual 10.2.13.13 release build. If you updated to Dell Security Management Server Virtual version 10.2.13.13 prior to January 2021, please review the Upgrading from Dell Security Management Server Virtual 10.2.13.13 fails knowledge base article. This issue only affects the update process, it does not affect the normal operation of the server.

With the recent SUPERNOVA and SUNBURST attacks that have been announced and identified in several customer environments, Dell has conducted an internal review of all equipment, services and applications that are hosted by Dell and have confirmed that Dell has not been affected by these vulnerabilities. VMware Carbon Black Windows Sensor v3.6.0.1979

VMware Carbon Black released the Carbon Black Cloud Windows Sensor v3.6.0.1979 on January 11, 2021.

This sensor version updates the built-in OSquery to 4.5.1, allowing customers with Carbon Black Advanced or Audit and Remediation environments to expand their search queries on devices to include additional fields.

Fixes:

·         This release further improves network performance on devices with high network IO, or with transfers of large numbers of smaller files (under 50 megabytes).

·         Additional performance fixes have been put into place with Office and media files, based around changes to the hashing logic efficiency.  

·         Various improvements to the local console connection issues that have been seen with 3.6.0.1941

·         Resolved an issue that would cause delays with applications not closing in a timely manner.

·         Resolved issues with file open operations from network shares.

·         Resolved an issue with high CPU usage on devices running 3.6.0.x clients

·         Resolved an issue where the sensor was not properly sending the device’s MAC address to the Cloud.

Dell Trusted Device v2.10

Dell Trusted Device v2.10 is now available.

 Features:

·         Security Risk Protection Score - enables administrators to determine the security risk level of computers in their enterprise. Trusted Device scans and detects the below security solutions and assigns a score per overall risk assessment.

·         Anti-virus

·         BIOS administrator password

·         BIOS Verification

·         Disk encryption

·         Firewall

·         Indicators of Attack

·         TPM use

Trusted Device scans for the presence and status of each security solution listed above every 24 hours, and 15 minutes after the Trusted Device agent restarts. For each component, Trusted Device writes a timestamped pass, pass with warnings, or fail, and comprehensive score to the Windows Event Viewer.

Issues resolved in DTD 2.10

·         After upgrading, the Trusted Device agent no longer writes an error to the service log if the service restarts. [DPS-2333]

·         BIOS Event & Indicator of Attack detection is improved. [DPS-2402]

·         The Trusted Device agent no longer writes an erroneous exception to logs while scanning for anti-virus and firewall solutions. [DPS-2480, DPS-2455]

·         Security Risk Protection Score assessments now display the correct timestamp in Windows Event Viewer. [DPS-2508]

Dell ESSE 2.9

 Dell ESSE 2.9 released Jan. 5 includes Cylance version 1565.  ESSE 2.9 also adds support for Windows 20H2. Systems configured with auto-update will be updated to the 1565 version of Cylance, which contains some security fixes and bug fixes.  Dell Threat Defense will auto-update to 1566, which also provides support for Windows 20H2.

Dell Encryption Client 10.9

 The 10.9 Policy Based Encryption Client (PBE) provides support for Windows 20H2.  It also contains multiple bug fixes regarding provisioning the DDPE client, interoperability with other applications, and enhancements for Windows OS system updates and Windows Feature Updates.
