encryption - windows 11 home vs 11 pro

I need to update 2 home computers with windows 11. What are the differences, pros and cons involving encryption using the home vs pro version of windows 11?

Hi @asclepius!

Dell Encryption will support both the Home and Pro versions of Windows 11 for our Personal and Enterprise edition solutions with version 11.2 due to release in early November 2021.  If you were looking to secure your machine with Microsofts Bitlocker solution that is only available in the Windows 11 Pro sku.

Let us know if you have any follow up questions and we'll be happy to help!

Hi @asclepius,

Since the last updates, many users are getting used to the new interface of W11 and both versions are going well.

Don't know if you still looking for advice or not, however as per personal experience I upgraded to W11 a few weeks ago and is amazing. If you are not sure if updating or not, I'd recommend you give it a try, at the end, you have 10 days to change your mind. And from an encryption point of view both versions support it, so why not.

Before installing the OS check if your pc meets the minimum requirements via the PC Health Check (you can follow the steps here to be sure).

Also, Microsoft uses BitLocker – for the Home version there is a limited version(which does the job) but if you are looking for a more advanced feature the PRO is what you need.
