Dell Data Protection / Windows Updates

Hi everyone,

We have Dell Data Protection installed on many computers (no encryption). When we try to update windows (ex : 1909 to 2004) we can't because DDP blocked it. The only way is uninstall DDP to update Windows.

Anyone has a solution ? It would be much appreciate

Hi @aegishjalmur!

Depending on the version installed of Dell Encryption it can block upgrades to unsupported versions of Windows 10 to prevent incompatible configurations. This KB Dell Data Security / Dell Data Protection Windows Version Compatibility references what is the minimum needed version of Dell Encryption to support any of the Windows 10 feature updates released to date. If you receive a message that Dell Encryption has prevented a windows update you can install the latest version by going to our Dell Encryption support page. If you are not utilizing the features of Dell Encryption you can uninstall it and it will no longer prevent future updates from being applied.
