DDS test lab

Greetings and Felicitations!

I would like to build a Dell Data Security (DDS) server in my Hyper-V test lab, separate from our production systems.

Does anyone know if this is allowed?

Would a license be required?

Does Dell have a technical training course for DDS available?

I don't want to try and learn new software on our DDS production system.

Thanks!

Hi @Tom_Servo!

Yes you can stand up a test server of the Dell Data Security server.  All installs of the Dell Data Server come by default with 10 licenses to our products that never expire. You have two options of server install types one is called Enterprise Edition and requires a fully licensed Windows Server and SQL server to start the installation.  The other option is our Virtual Edition server that is a stand alone appliance and that requires nothing but you downloading a vhdk file to put into your hyper-v environment.

With regards to training we really don't have anything online besides our product documentation and knowledge base which can be found here.  The downloads for both Enterprise and Virtual Edition servers are available at that link as well.

We do have some remote professional services options that can help get you up to speed and are available in 2 and 4 day sessions.  There's also a service we refer to as a "health check" that reviews your environment and offers policy suggestions.  That health check might be a good starting point to helping you get familiar with Dell Encryption.

As you already have found out you can also post here and get assistance from us and the community on any questions you might have.  If you need deeper or immediate assistance you can leverage our 24/7 help desk via the call in information in my signature.
