Order delayed

I recently ordered an R10 Aurora and I chose the specific model because of its 'fast track delivery'. All seemed well and it was MEANT to ship on the 3rd of June with an expected delivery for the 11th of June. However, I have now just received a revised shipment that has a new arrival date of July 5th.

This is ridiculous, a big part of my decision to purchase the machine was the delivery turn around time. How can it jump a whole month?! I spoke to a sales member and he said they had the computers in stock and now suddenly I need to wait a month.

This has been a horrible experience, chasing it up for days only to hear it gets delayed by a whole month.

Dell does not "stock" anything.  They're built to order and shipped from the manufacturer.

Given the shortages of both components (CPUs and GPUs) and shipping space (bear in mind the systems are built in China and shipped directly from the manufacturer, delays are the norm and not the exception these days.

Yeah I figured they were built to order. However, the salesman kept going on about having only '8 left in stock' no idea what he was on about. I also understand the whole cpu/gpu shortages, why advertise fast track delivery on their site for weeks...Just to delay my order once purchased.

I’m sharing your frustration too -

I ordered an XPS 13 9310 on March 23 with an estimated arrival date by May 11. I would have thought that 7 weeks would be enough to assemble and ship a laptop for a company like Dell, but I got an email May 4 that the delivery date was delayed an additional 4 weeks to June 14. Super disappointing, but fine, delays happen, especially with COVID impacting supply chains. However, I just got another email yesterday, June 4, saying my delivery date has been pushed an ADDITIONAL 4 weeks to July 13.

I emailed Customer Service and still have not heard back. I also called the U.S. help line number only to get a message saying that due to the holiday, the line was closed. What holiday am I missing? Memorial Day was last weekend...

I’m not usually one to be a keyboard warrior, but this is truly atrocious service. I need this specific laptop so I can’t cancel my order, but this is ridiculous. I’m glad I had the foresight to order a laptop before my old one completely crashed on me (but who knows if it will arrive before that point now?) I have zero faith that come July 4 I’m not going to get an email saying this order was postponed to mid-August then September and so on. Will 4 MONTHS for production actually be long enough for them? Dell should at least be offering discounts for these massive delays and offering up some specific explanation for them (i.e. which parts are delayed, where in production your order is), particularly since they seem to be happening a lot. Not for nothing, but I didn’t pay (and get charged) $1400 for this terrible of a service.

It's insane how common this is, especially with Dell.

I understand there are delays and shortages, however why advertise fast dispatch or keep advertising 'new revised' shipment dates. Like you said, what if someone needed that system at a particular date and ordered it as such because it was advertised to get to them during a particular time frame.

I went from June 3rd to be shipped, now June 25th ? Like seriously...I ordered it while the website kept advertising fast dispatch.

And their customer service don't seem to be of much help at all.

It got delivered in the end, but Dell prevented me from creating new posts after this post!
