Inspiron 15 3000 scratches

I purchased a new laptop a few weeks back for my son.  In two weeks of normal use, i was really suprised to see large areas of smudges of scratches on the body of the laptop.  Is there a serious issue with the material?  Has anyone noticed this?

I have 3 other Dell laptops never seen this kind of issue;   Have reached out to customer care who said they can replace but that wont solve the issue if the material is bad to begin with.

Dell can do better; all my research lab machines are Dell workstations and I give them kudos for superb products. I hope this is not a freak quality control issue.

If you buy a Lexus, you expect a certain standard of fit and finish.  That's the workstation-class Dell notebook.

If you buy a Hyundai Accent, you expect a lower standard of fit and finish (that's the Inspiron 3000 series).

You cannot expect the same level of finish and durability from a 3000 series you do with a Dell workstation.

Hold on; what kind of response is this?

I am putting forward a geniune material issue.  Even a 400$ laptop from dell just 3 year ago did not have this issue.

Hence that is why I stick with Dell always.  Expect they should have better quality if not get better over time.
