Will renaming Cisco 9513 switches cause issues?
I inherited two Cisco 9513 switches in a remote Datacenter. The names of the switches on the external labels do not match the actual switch names, they are swapped. The switches have the floor location integrated into the names. Since I have to rely on others in the remote location for physical tasks the naming is causing some issues. The easiest way to fix this would be to change the internal switch names to match the external labels.
My question is - would that cause any problems? Can the name be changed without rebooting the switch? Would it cause any issues with the fabric? I would think that I could delete the switch from ECC, rename it, then discover it in ECC and the fabric would then have the new name. With no loss of FC connectivity or any zoning issues.
What say you?

Hi,
You can rename the switch without rebooting it and it will be non disruptive, you can use the, 'switchname', command to rename the switch.
