New Switch added to fabric
Hello All,
I have two seperate fabrics each having a single DCX Backbone switch.
We 're now going to add a brand new DCX switch to each of the fabrics. I am pretty new in setting this Up and no prior experiance . can some one help me what all steps i need to check and configure on the new switch before running the cables to the free port.
Like setting the domain ID and other things.
Also , My second question is how do I select my ports for trunking & ISL ..
Appreciate if some one can help me understand this setup.
This will be the configuration

You need to check a few things like
1. if the fabricbuilding(during ISL merging) would be transparent to existing connections.
2. You can chose a G- port (nothing logged in) and change to E_port for ISL.
3. for trunking you can use portcfgtrunkport and you can test ISL using spinfab if you dont have a web based tool to manage.
Any chance you would be using ISL(Inter chassis Link)?
PS:- I am not a Brocade expert at all, but just giving you some hints

Hi,
This is regarded as a new implementation. There are a lot of considerations to be taken into account, when adding a new switch to any fabric. As you said domain id's, blade types, where you are going to position the ISL's and what settings are you going to give the ports on the ISL's etc.
I advice you to contact your local EMC contact, and request assistance with this implementation.
