Mcdata switches

We have a 16 port Mcdata switch in use currently and are having to migrate it over to Cisco.

I wish to connect a new test server to it so we can test a few things before migrating any prod server's.

I see that ports 8-15 are in the below state.

Operational State:   Inactive
Reason:   No key enabled

This means I only have the key enabled to use 8 ports and will need a new key to activate the other 8 correct?

I guess I know the answer for this already but wanted to see from any one if there was any work around.

Unfortunately there is no work around..

OBTAINING THE flexport ACTIVATION CODE(S)

  1. The  "flexport expansion features" have to be enabled before the additional ports can be used.
  2. This "enabling" is done by the customer or C.E. going to PowerLink on the web, clicking on the Support tab, and then selecting the "Connectrix Keys" link http://powerlink.emc.com/exittracking.dyn?path=https%3A%2F%2Ffusion.emc.com%2FpowerlinkAssetMgmt%2F.
  3. Select the appropriate model of switch you are installing and read the "help" section on activating the "expansion feature key".
  4. Use caution when entering the following information!  If you make a typing error and hit "enter" you will need to involve the EMC Customer Support Center (the software refresh group) for assistance.
  5. For the correct model of switch, enter the switch serial number, switch WWN, and the feature key number recorded on the "expansion key document" for each expansion kit installed in the switch. If the entered information is correct, Powerlink will respond with an "activation code" for each expansion kit. Print this "activation code" for each kit. If you install the second expansion kit, the second page printed will reflect BOTH activation codes for kits 1 and 2. Retain this printed copy of the activation code with the activation key document for future reference.
