memory warning
hello @all
we have an sc8000 and we recieve these warnings
1b MEMORY Mem ECC Warning DIMM[B][3]TRANS TO CRIT FROM LESS SEVERE ASSERT
1b MEMORY Mem ECC Warning DIMM[B][3]TRANS TO NON CRIT FROM OK ASSERT
please, is it related to faulted dimm memory in controller B and need to be replaced ? (if yes how to get the part number of the dimm to purchase one before replacing)
Or it is just a warning that could be automatically disappear ?
thanks :))

Ria_R,
Would you access the logs and let me know if you see any other errors specific to that dimm? If so then we could power down and then swap that dimm with another in the system and then start back up and see if the error follows the dimm to the new slot, indicating a bad dimm, or if the error stays on that location, which may indicate a bad slot on the controller.
As far as the dimm part number, if you haven't upgraded from the dimms shipped with the system, then if we need the svc tag for a dispatch I can see the dimm part details.
Let me know what you see.

Hi @DELL-Chris H
Thank you for your help :))
in the logs there is no other error related to that dimm. (here attached a screenshot of logs)
in addition, the status of the controller is ok (please see picture attached) and the hardware status is green.
Do you need the scv tag to get the part number of the dimm? if yes i will provide you it
thank you again :))

Hi @DellEMCSupport
Thank you for your answer
We have purchased a Dimm in order to replace it. but i couldn't find a procedure to shutdown/remove the controller and then start it after dimm replacement. is there a link for service manual?
by the way, it is the secondary controller.. could this operation be done without impact on production?
thanks a lot in advance

Hi, I couldn’t find a specific procedure for shutting down/removing the secondary controller and then starting it after DIMM replacement. If the secondary controller is in a "ready to failover" state, I would expect it without impacting production. But I don't familiar SC series and everytime need to be ready always ensure that you have proper backups and a plan for data protection before performing any hardware maintenance on your storage controller. There is a How to shutdown and start Dell Compellent series storage system via Dell Storage Manager | Dell UK
