Hi,

What kind of username and password is in reference? Do you have a screenshot of the login page, we would know which you're looking at? I may think you're referring to Storage Manager Client. There is an old thread post about resetting, https://dell.to/3TRfh8T you can try referring to this method. If this doesn't work, you may need to call into support for a one time fee based engineer visit.

@DELL-Joey C

Thank you for your help.

I want to follow the step.
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/storage-sc2000/unisphere-2020-ag/reset-a-controller-to-factory-default?guid=guid-0ae3c913-539d-42b0-bfc7-8b875e2dcd1f&lang=en-us

but I don't have any information( server ip ,admin useranme and password).

Could i use DSM to discover the storage ip?

Also , use your solution to reset admin user and password.

Do i miss something to factory reset SC5020?

Thanks,
Jeffrey

Hi,

I don't think you can, as you need the storage IP to launch DSM. There is a CLI Java application from Compellent website, outside of Dell support site. But with that, you still need the management IP. Probably best you can try contacting the previous owner to obtain more information of the storage to get a better control of it.

Hi,

I can't think of a good way to reset the controller without an IP. Unisphere Discovery Utility is to discover uninitialized storage, which is not in your case.

Hello,

I found the storage IP and login in to DSM.

But how can i factory reset storage?

I follow the step from the link.

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/storage-sc5020/dsm-2020-ag/reset-a-controller-to-factory-default?guid=guid-0ae3c913-539d-42b0-bfc7-8b875e2dcd1f&lang=en-us

Hi,

It seems, according to the user guide, it says Data Collector might be needed in Step 1.

https://dell.to/3TSsQou

Or, probably you do not have administrator rights when logging in DSM. Did you obtain the username and password?

Hi,

If I'm not mistaken, the Data Collector has been renamed to Storage Manager, hence, you can download the newest 2020-R1.20 version to try to connect to the storage and check for it's actions option if it has more to select.

Hello,

Thanks for your help.

I have already installed the Storage Manager.

But I can't connect the storage.

Error Message:

Error from Storage Center: 192.168.30.24 (192.168.30.24) Unreachable: IO exception while communicating with Storage Center: connect timed out

Do you know why?

Thanks,
Jeffrey

Hi,

I've read on other old threads about that error, some pointed that is the firewall blocking certain ports. Can you disable firewall functionality on the client that you have installed Storage Manager.

Hi,

Not that I can think of, unless there are other errors arise. But, I might be at my limits of knowledge, further issue I may suggest a need to log a case with technical support, even though I know the storage has no longer any warranty contract.
