using naviseccli

  naviseccli -address vnx5600spa storagegroup -setpath -gname -hbauid 20:00:00:05:e6:00:b5:c2:20:00:00:05:e6:00:b5:c2 -sp a -spport 0 -arraycommpath 1 -failovermode 1 -host -ip -o

this assumes that you are adding host registration to an existing host/storage group. Notice the WWN should be in nodename:portname format, in my instance it's the same but on other HBAs it could be different.

I've still got one of those...just how much level of detail will you need?

An outline would be something like this:

> Zone the HBA port(s) to the storage ports.

> In Unisphere, go to the CX-960 and then, from the Hosts tab, select either Summary or Host List.

> On the left panel select Storage System Connectivity Status.

> In the Connectivity Status box scroll through the initiators and you should see your WWN(s) listed.

> If they are not present, then you may need to do a device re-scan from the host to get it to log into the connections.  Worst case, reboot but honestly it shouldn't be necessary with most modern hosts/HBAs/OSes.  If still not found then troubleshoot connectivity from host to switches and switches to storage.

> ...I'm a bit fuzzy on whether you can select the WWN directly, or if you may have to hit the plus sign to the left and select one of the specific paths... but highlight object and hit the Register button.

>  Select New Host and provide a host name and unique IP address for the host.

>  For initiator type select Clariion Open.  For Failover Support, confirm for your OS and MPIO drivers, but ALUA Mode 4 is common, and Mode 1 is a simple/dumber alternative.

> Locally, we select Advanced Options and uncheck the ArrayComPath option; this will eliminate the zero byte LUNZ from your hosts device list.

> Hit Ok.

If you have (and I hope you do...) two HBAs connected through redundant fabrics, repeat the process for the other WWNs/paths only select the host you just created from the drop-down list of Existing Host.  Select all the same parameters as above.

Does that help?
