Disk failure on raid 10 didn't activate hotspare

I have CLARION CX4-120

Today was a disk failure on one of 6 disks in RAID 10 group

And I expected that  available hotspare take place for faulted disk

but all 2 available hotspares are in Inactive state

why is that?

is it possible to manually initiate hotspare engagement

On CX4 you should be able to in Unisphere (depending on the version of flare you're running) go to the disks (System/Disks) and see the failed disk. select the failed disk on click on the "Replace" button at the bottom.

Check the size of the disks that are your hot spares, they should be the same or larger than the one that failed to invoke the hot spare on failure.

On the previous flare code, when creating a hot spare you have to create lun on that, before it could be actually used as a hotpare. Please check if a lun was created as hot spare.
