Pen for 5190 2 in 1

Hello,

Just bought a Dell Chromebook the 5190 2 in 1, and I'm searching for an pen/sylus to use with it.

i found the 444-BBCS https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-active-emr-pen/apd/444-bbcs/handhelds-tablet-pcs

but this pen is not available in the Netherlands, is there a Wacom pen that will work with the EMR touch screen?

Thanks,

Emiel, the Netherlands

Hello. Let me suggest the Noris Digital EMR Stylus for Chromebooks by Staedtler. (It comes in Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow colors. If it does not come in these colors, then it is not the one I am suggesting.) It has served me well for over one month now with a Dell 7486 Chromebook. It comes with extra tips/nubs, though I have not needed to replace the original one. Some people might not like how thin it is, though I like it very much.

On a side note, I still find it unacceptable that Dell will not sell the actual EMR stylus that comes with the Dell 7486 and fits into the stylus garage on the underside of the 7486 keyboard. (Dell, please make the requisite arrangements to supply/order that part and start selling it to formerly loyal customers of the 7486!) The Staedtler Norris EMR stylus that I suggest above will not fit into the designated storage space/garage in the Dell 7486. However, for a Dell that comes with a (Wacom) digitizer in the display (such as many models of the 5190), it works very well. In the U.S., Amazon sells it for $26-$28. Be well and happy holidays...

Is there an physcal way to see if the 5190 has an EMR Digitizer? an marking or based on a serial number.?

Thanks Emiel

Hello. Staedtler lists the 5190 as a compatible device. On my Dell Chromebook, there is a little pen icon in the lower right corner of the screen (just to the left of the Chrome OS settings icon). Perhaps the main thing to do is go into settings and look for the device settings (display, storage, power management, etc.). Do you see any Stylus or Active Pen settings? You could also try to register your Chromebook with Dell by entering the service tag (should be provided on the underside of the keyboard/bottom of the Chromebook) on an appropriate Dell webpage. This could give you access to a list of the device components and you could look for a digitizer. This is the best that I can think of at the moment (can you find anything about a stylus or pen in the settings?). Let me know what you do or do not find. Good luck...

Hi again. Unfortunately, I just looked at my configuration details again and it lists "ASSEMBLY, COVER, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, W/EMR" and "DISPLAY, ACCESSORY, DIGITIZER". So it seems as though "WO/EMR" does mean without EMR (digitizer for stylus). I am very sorry. Perhaps you can try to return the EMR stylus? If not, perhaps find someone to give it to who could really use it and perhaps cannot afford it. Perhaps you can make do with a capacitive stylus (assuming it is a touch screen). I hope that you can still get excellent use out of the 5190. Although I use the EMR stylus a lot, the majority of Chromebook users I encounter do not have or want one (an EMR stylus). If you like, please report back here any other general comments on what (besides the stylus) you find you do or do not like about the 5190. Happy holiday wishes to you and all.

Hi, Thanks for your quick reply.

I have no stylus icon or setting for it, followed our tip and looked up the device info on the site,

PTRHY
ASSEMBLY, COVER, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, WO/EMR, 5190V

This is the number of the cover, WO/EMR means With out EMR i think,
So to bad, no use for a stylus i guess.
Thanks!

P.S. Somebody interested in a red Staedler Noris Digital pen?
