Chromebook 3180 SD card reader fails despite powerwash and new card
When the 32GB Sandisk Ultra SD card on my Chromebook stopped working, I
-tried to reformat the card
-verified that it worked on other devices
-powerwashed the machine
-bought a new 64GB card
The current status is that the new card is not recognised at all, while the old card shows an error message saying it requires formatting, but then fails to format and gives an error message saying so.
Dell, can any of your team advise?
The root of this is that the Chromebook 3180 clearly has a design flaw: the SD card protrudes slightly from the machine, so while being moved or packed during normal use it sometimes gets pushed in a millimetre which triggers the spring and ejects it. Obviously ejection during use is bad for the card and risks corrupting the data.
