chromebook 3100 2-in-1 will not power on after water damage (please help ASAP!)

My Chromebook accidently got covered in water while I was using it and I didn't wipe it until after 30-40 minutes or so. I wasn't worried since I saw that there was still an orange light, however after I ate dinner (leaving it to charge), for about 20 minutes, I saw that there wasn't any light at all. I thought the charger had a problem, so I took the charger out and put it in again. There was an orange light for a few times, but it stopped afterwards. After getting worried, I searched if it was waterproof or how to fix it. I tried multiple times on pressing the power off and on. No help. Now, after 1 hour of being wet (I dried it after), it won't turn on. I have the charger inmplanted and the charger is working fine? There isn't a white light. There's only one when I take the plug out and plug it back in. The chromebook is gray. The LED light isn't showing at all. The chord is in, from since 6:30 - 8:13 (Now). Please help ASAP. I need this for school.

Sorry to hear this - it sounds very frustrating. One thought is that you should thoroughly let it dry completely before you attempt to power it on and before you attempt to charge it. If the initial water did not do damage, trying to run power through it when wet could do damage. Good luck.

I let it try and waited a few days (charging) however it still didn't work....

I don't know what to do. I have to return the computer back to school.

Hello,

welcome to dell community.

First,  check if the battery is charging by plugging your Chromebook into a power outlet. (Usually, you'll see a light turn on.)

If your Chromebook is charging, let it charge for at least 30 minutes. If it still won't turn on, recover your Chromebook.

If your Chromebook still is not charging:

Check if the charger or adapter cables are completely plugged in, both to your Chromebook and the wall.

  • Make sure that the power outlet is working.
  • Unplug your charger from the wall and your Chromebook.
  • Plug your charger back in to your Chromebook, then the wall.
  • Charge the device for at least 30 minutes.
