Chromebook 14 BRICKED?!

Had it for 2-3 days... very nice impression though a bit on the 'chunky' side. I go to 'turn on' (install) Linux and it takes a bit to download. I see the terminal window pop up and then everything goes BLACK! I thought, "Hmmm, must be rebooting Chrome...", wait, wait, press power... wait, wait... look up Chrome OS force restart command keys... Tried those (Reload/Refresh? + Power, hold for 5 seconds, etc.)... wait. NOTHING! I never saw a screen again though I could tell there was CPU activity by the heat.

IDK what happened- Maybe a video hardware failure? But it's a very strange coincidence that it occurred right after I loaded Linux into Chrome OS!? Yes? Anyone else have any similar problem?

I returned the non-functional unit. Didn't know what else to do.
