Secured authentication of application against XAM VIM
Hi all,
I have question regarding authentication of 3rd party application against XAM VIM. What method(s) could be used? Is it only Anonymous method or Plain method - with unencrypted credentials?
It could be big issue for us - we have new Centera partner in healthcare who ported his application to Centera and it is manadatory for him to secure authentication because of nature of stored information. Does anybody have any experience with it?
I'm new in this part of Centera playground so I will be gratefull for any information/advice
Best regards

The XAM Standard mandates that ANONYMOUS or PLAIN authentication be supported, and these are the only schemes supported by the Centera VIM.
All other SASL schemes are optional and are not supported by the Centera VIM.
The standard Centera authentication process (PEA files) can be used for secure authentication via the XRI used to connect (by simply appending the PEA file name to the IP address in the usual way). This requires no XSystem Authenticate call to be made as the authentication is performed inside the VIM as part of the Connect call.
This type of authentication has been approved as being secure and acceptable to all the usual regulatory standards e.g. SEC 17a-4.
