How to replicate data in the future

Dear All,

I have a Centera system and in the near future there will be a replication target on other site. Till the replication pair will be available I have to store content to this Centera. How can I replicate them when the replication target available.

I know when I store something and after configure the replication the content will not be raplicated automatically.

Is it ok, to configure now the replication, without the target, then Centera mark everything as replication needed?

Do not configure replication, store the data, and in the future copy data the already stored data somehow?

Thank You!

Regards, Krisztian

You can enable replication and have replication point back to itself then pause replication.

When the replica has been setup, you can then change the replication to point to the new replica and resume replication.

Hi Krisztian,

You'll be unable to configure replication without the target Cluster. You can go for Cluster to Cluster (C2C) Migration once you've the Target cluster configured, if you need to maintain the same data on both clusters. Once C2C is complete then you can configure replication as informed above between the Clusters.

Hi Krisztian,

Is there anything else you would like to know regarding Replication on Centera Clusters.

Yes this will work. Make sure you pause replication immediately when pointing back to itself.

When you get the replica, you will need to “export poolprofilesetup” from the CLI on the source cluster then “import poolprofilesetup” on the target.

You will then need to create a replication profile on the target (create a pea file) – this should have c-e-d granted rights to the replicating pools on the target.

You will then modify replication on the source to use this profile (and pea file) and change the IP’s to the target.

You will need to create ‘merged’ pea files for all the profiles you are using once replication is setup and pointing to the target cluster. Centera Support can assist with this.

Is it really working. Did you tried it on a Centera? If it is working its a very good news for me.

Hi Dennis,

I already created the profiles and pools on one side, exported them, and imported on the other side.

Thank you for your help.
