For Uni-Directional move to Centera how many Clip ID created?

Hi All,
I have configured the Centera with Uni-Directional PEA. The requirement is that once the object will be moved to Centera, it should be copied to the internal another Centera storage.
While copying the Object to Centera, a Clip ID is returned. So can you advice, whether another Clip ID will be created for internal copying or there will be only one Clip ID for the first copying to the Centera?

Thanks,

Bismaya

It depends on whether Centera is replicating the object or if the application is doing dual writes to two different Centeras.

If you are using replication where you write to your primary Centera and this replicates the data to a secondary Centera then you will have the same clip ID as replication just copies the objects over.

If you are doing dual writes where the applications writes the same object to 2 different Centeras then you will have different unique clip ID's for the same object.

By your statement "uni-direction", it sounds like you are using uni-directional replication but it's important that you know the difference.

Hi

When an object is written to Centera, a content address is returned. The clit id returned is per object. You will not receive two clip id's if your centera is mirrored. Also if you replicate to another Centera you will not receive a second clip id as the object will have the same clip id on the target Centera.

Best regards, Holger
