Centera SN4 & CLARiiON AX150i

I became the owner of 3x Centera SN4 and 1x CLARiion AX150i all used with no documentation and no software. They power up and all seem good condition. Is there installation documentation and OS/Software recommendations. I would like to connect them all together.

Any help would be a greatly appreciated.

Hi,

The Centera is built to address a new category of storage known as Content Addressed Storage (CAS). CAS consists of online, disk-based repositories that are optimized for applications that use fixed content. Fixed content is content that is expected to remain unchanged for long periods of time. Centera requires that customers integrate a Centera API into a customer, in-house developed, application or through a third party application that has already been integrated with Centera.

As far a I know we'll be unable to connect the Centera and CLARiiON directly but I believe that you can archive data into Centera from CLARiiON or any other storage device using API's built using Centera SDK.

Please check the link "Products > Hardware/platforms > Centera" for detailed information on Centera.

What is the OS that is on the Centera SN4(Gen4LP) Storage Server. Is it CentraStar or Windows Server 2008? If CentraStar, where do I get it? If WS2008, is there software that is used to manage the SN4?

Thanks

Hi,

The OS in Centera is CenteraStar also referred as Filepool. The Centera Software is currently not available in Powerlink, try the searching for the same in "https://support.emc.com" under Support by product pages.

Centera is not customer installable nor customer maintained. EMC should install and configure the Centera as well as perform any CentraStar upgrades that may be required. Centera uses ConnectEMC to dial home health reports and alert EMC to any hardware issues or other issues impacting the Centera. EMC remote support will fix the problem or dispatch to your local CE for onsite service. This is all configured at the time of installation.

You will not be able to install the operating system nor download the software.

Please contact your local EMC office for further assistance.

Regards

Dennis

Hi,

The Software’s available on "support.emc.com" are only those which are required to manage the Cluster. The actual OS "FilePool" which runs on the Centera Cluster is neither downloadable nor it is customizable.
