Connecting to a share from a 2nd domain

We have a VNX VG2 with a few CIFS servers (on seperate VDM's) that are all connected to our AD. Recently one of the companies we service has been bought by another company. Everything stays the same in our AD and the people log in with the initals in our AD to do their daily work, but they have also been issued a user id on the AD of the parent company. They use these user id's to log in on the new parent company sharepoint intranet site and open documents on our VNX that is in the other AD.

We have setup a one-way trust from our AD to their AD and are able to set rights with their secondary user id. When we ask the usemapper the user is mapped correctly.

But when we try to open a document or request the contents of a folder we get nothing. In a DOS-box we get following error: "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password".

I've setup auditing in the cifs server and I get following entries in the security log:

error1.jpg

followed by:

error2.jpg

Can someone give me a clue to what is wrong here. We've probably forgot something but the question is what?

We've have tried this and this works. We've made a share on one of our windows servers and gave the user rights on it. When we tried to map thee drive from a dos-box it works like a charm.

Yes, that's what I mean. Sorry about the confusion, still calling it a DOS-box after all those years.
