Dell PowerEdge M910 and Vmware Networking
hi guys
I have a Blade chassis with 3 PowerEdge M910, this chassis has 8 Physical NICs connnected and each ESX 4.1 sees 10 vmnics, according to my networking guy these 8 NICs are using Etherchannels and all these Etherchannel have access to al VLANs in my case VLANs 40 - 50 - 700 - 800.
OK, I have 4 vmnics, vmnic6 to vmnic9, even when my Net guys says and show me that all the physical NICs have access to all VLANs, vmnic6 and vmnic8 have no access to VLAN_50 and this causes me that when vmotion VMs some VMs suddenly loss network connectivity.... on the other hand vmnic 7 and vmnic 9 listen in all VLANs.
someone else deployed this environment but I had to do some migration to version 5 and I found out this issue..... so my question is since physical NICs are listining in all VLANs is there something I have to check at Dell level?

Hi Karlochacon,
What's your HW configuration? For instance, NICs- LOM - LAN on Motherboard & what's your M910s' daughtercards? Are they dual- or quad- port NICs? Also, what IO Modules are in your Fabric A, B, and C of your blade chassis as well as your top of rack switch?
Next, are you VLANs all public or are you using vDS for private VLANs? Are you seeing any types of errors in the Event/Alarms logs?
So does your environment require vmnic6 and vmnic8 to have access to VLAN_50? What do vmnic6/8 map to in terms of physical NICs and what do vmnic7/9 map to?

thanks a lot for your answer...Wefixed it some days ago....the issue was that the Ethernet Switch in the blade specifically ports for vmnics6 and 8 were not not listening VLAN50

Hi team,
Please custom is trying to run stimulation on M910 using vm... But when the loads get to 500 users it's state to drop in connection. The network team has configured the unit to the switch's and.... But right after they log on to start stimulation then the problem start.
