change MD1000 to other server

Hi
We need to change a MD1000 to other server.

Actually is connected to a PE2950 with Windows Server 2003 by PERC5E, the system has 10 disks in raid, then 1 partition with data and other with shadow copies of these data.

We need to connect it to a PE2850 (with Ultra320SCSI, but without PERC).

- My first doubt is if I need to have a PERC card, or if it´s recommendable in any case.
- The second and more important doubt is if I can simply connect the new server to the MD1000 without losing data. I´m not sure if I need to recreate disk, arrays, or partition on the server.
I don´t know what will be exactly detected by the OpenManage and by the server.

Thanks in advance

If you have a free PCI-e slot in the 2850 you can simply move the PERC and the MD1000 over to the new server and you should be able to access your virtual disks with no problem. But before you do any of this, I would make sure you have a current backup of all data.
