How do you ensure Avamar backups in virtual environment are intact without using ABV feature ?

When you back up VM's in a datacenter via Avamar 7.2, all successful backups create restore points. How can we ensure that all the files are backed up properly without using ABV feature ? How do you tell customers that all their files are backed up properly?

The only way to guarantee that backups are consistent, correct, and complete is to perform a restore test.

The daily hfscheck process on the Avamar will guarantee that the backups are consistent (i.e. what we backed up is still what is on the server) but Avamar has no way to know whether or not what was backed up is correct or complete. For example, Avamar will only back up what it's told to back up so if there is a filesystem that isn't included in the dataset, Avamar has no way to know whether this was done intentionally or was due to an oversight. If there's a filesystem missing, that backup is consistent but not complete. As another example, if somebody accidentally saves over a document, Avamar has no way to know whether the old version or the new version of the document is the correct version. If a bad copy of a document gets backed up, that backup is consistent but not correct.

So hfscheck is the only way that guarantees the consistency of backups. Thanks!
