Avamar to Avamar + DD using Tier Group?
Back to the old question: Can I have an Avamar node at one site, replicate it to headquarters and then tier that Avamar data to Data Domain?
Has the technology advanced to allow this yet? I see where you can now tier jobs from Avamar to DD Cloud, but what if I want DD to be my internal cloud.
If I want to use DD at my corporate headquarters for long-term retention for satellite offices, do I need DD at the satellite offices or can Avamar replicate the jobs to Avamar nodes at headquarters, then tier to DD?

Gotcha...just wondering if EMC's flexibility had evolved. We had CommVault several years ago and CV really didn't care where the data was tiered off to.

It is possible to migrate data from Avamar to Avamar / DD but not on an operational / daily basis. This type of migration is intended for one time use and requires professional services to execute.
Additionally, when we're talking about cloud tiering, we're talking about tiering data from an Avamar / Data Domain integrated system to the cloud tier. It is not possible to tier backups written to the Avamar back-end to cloud storage.
