Atmos Virtual Edition installation on Vmware Player, steps request

Hello All,

I am trying to install and run Atmos Virtual Edition in VMware Player but got stuck in initial stages. Looking for help in the following areas.

Steps complete:

1. Downloaded Atmos VM edition

2. Created Ubuntu version of Atmos VM Image

3. Gave my computer (host) Gateway, Primary and Secondary DNS entries in the initial setup. (I am not sure if this is the right way of providing these details)

4. Logged in to the image using root/ChangeMe

Now I am trying to access this image from a browser but could not get to it.

Also I am not able to ping my host IP from the image.

Please let me know if anyone has done this successfully before. Please share the steps that worked for you.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Atmos Evaluation Edition is specific to VMWare ESX (not ESXi) and definitely won't work with VMWare Player which expects Workstation compatible images.

My guess is you have not configured the secondary switch needed to get the installation to work and not configured the hosts with the two network adapters that they need.

I don't know if player has the ability to created a separate private network. Without that you won't be able to get an Atmos install to work.

Have you looked at the Atmos Evaluation Edition which is pre built?

If you are just wanting to have a play around with Atmos then why not use the one that is available in the demo cloud?

Thanks Darren for useful pointers.

I downloaded Atmos VE Powerlink and thought I could use it for evaluation purposes. I will try AEE and see if it works on VMWARE player.

I am doing a POC to use the Atmos System Management API, so I cannot use the atmosonline for that prupose. I need a dedicated Atmos Server with full access.

Thanks again.

Thanks Bala. I guess I need a dedicated Atmos instance in the lab , which I can obtain from our IT folks.

Is there any reason as to why you cannot use Atmos Online?

I am working on a POC to develop a service to access content and provide self service account process in the Atmos for internal mobile consumption, where I need to test Atmos Service management API and need sysadmin privileges.

I think with Atmos Online I will not be able to acheive what I am trying do. Also we are not planning to use Cloud Delivery platform for our purpose.
