x15 R1, power issue

I got my laptop this year about 2 months ago. It randomly started to not work without the cable though. I went to unplug it to move it and the whole thing just shut off and wont turn back on till i plug back in the cable. Ive not changed any system settings on it or done any risky downloads so im just stumped on what is going on.

@Chino de Oro

I have gotten the issue figured out, the wire connection from the battery to the motherboard had exposed wiring, the casing looked to be peeled back or uncurled from it. Not sure why it was like this as I didn’t directly buy it, my grandparents did, and I only found out recently that they bought it through Amazon.

It seems like there is issue with the battery.  Check your laptop battery health to see what's its condition.

i have checked that and it shows that it’s all good, even did a double check by hitting f2 during a restart and it shows that it’s operating normally.

It appears that the x15 R1 is not a current model.  You may have purchased it used and maybe there is pre-existing issue or maybe not.

Perform a hardware reset by removing power, disconnect battery, press and hold power button for 30 seconds.  Reconnecting all power and monitor if the issue get resolved.

You also can run system diagnostics scan via F12 at boot.

so this stuff didn’t quite help. Can’t exactly take off the battery and I don’t know how to get to the diagnostic scan. I did hit f12 but it didn’t work.

i am getting help now from my personal IT help and figured out i didn’t have the recent BIOS update and getting it now and hoping it fixes my problem.

Understandable.  Some users can follow instructions and perform troubleshooting on their systems, while others are unfamiliar with technical process and are afraid that they could do damage to their devices.
