The shipping time
Alienware m18 R1
checked out on Oct30th, a customize product that takes three days to build, and shipped on Nov 1st, totally acceptable and so far so good. But it still hasn't end transiting from China to UK (today is Nov 8th). I'm just wondering how long does everybody else's package take to transit?

The laptop was delivered today at around 12:00p.m., the screen has a bit light leak, but for a IPS panel, I think that is quite common, but I don't know what's other people thinking of, I guess it's not really acceptable given the price? But I have got the warranty, whatever. And I don't want to wait for another three weeks or even more than a month to wait for a replacement.
The product is great, but the shipping experience is completely <Profanity and/or profanity obscuration are never allowed on our Forum. DELL-Admin>. I was very concerned about the condition of the laptop, as the Syncreon website just never updates the tracking information until on the day the package was preparing to deliver, but it seems in a good condition when arrived.
Checking out and order confirmed on Oct 30th (eta ship date Nov 4th, eta delivery date Nov 13rd)
Built complete and shipped on Nov 1st
completely lost for a week
Parcel arrived in UK and collected by DHL e-commerce on Nov 9th around 5p.m.
Delivered on Nov 10th 12:47

From my own experience of sending package from UK to China, I used DHL standard shipping, and that takes only 3 days for my package to go to German and then to Shanghai, China, which is my home city. And another day to clear the custom.

You cannot compare shipping a single package with shipping a containerload of notebook computers. It can take up to a week or more for a container of notebook computers to transit the Pacific.

@ejn63 but I thought if they are traveling through ocean, then it could be way beyond 7 days, is it not?

Suppose to ship end of the month, however it marked shipped day before yesterday. Then I'm getting frustration because after 48H, Fedex still don't get the package =). I'm gonna watch how long this gonna take. Dell's invoice methodology is out of their door, customer is in possession of the goods right. HOWEVER, did you just toss the PC out of the door and wait for someone to collect?

They do not ship the systems one at a time. They are shipped in bulk to a logistics site in your home country, and then shipped out to you. Dell does need to be more transparent about the fact that the "clock" on shipping doesn't start running until the system arrives in your home country, and it is true that that can take a week or more, given international shipping issues.

Ok, so I took another glance at the notification email, it does say "You will receive an order shipped email with associated tracking information once the final mile carrier picks up the freight." It is acceptable if that's true, I should've read this carefully, but I still think there should be an express choice to ship the product. As there is no guarantee that the package will arrive in a good state after several days or even weeks of transit, and even the replacement will take that long, too. And not to mention that the customer cannot cancel an order that has been shipped.

Desktop systems are not built in El Paso -- that's the port of entry. It sounds like whatever model you ordered came from the ODM in Mexico (some desktops are built in Mexico; others come from China).

@ejn63 I see, now I guess it has not passed the boarder yet even "shipped". I guess they are waiting for a bulk load to Fedex El Paso.

Update, Fedex picked it up in El paso after Dell tracking showed "shipped" on the 6th.

@ejn63 On a second thought, if the packages are traveling through the Ocean, which route did they took(just out of pure curiosity)? I mean if I look at the world map, there is mostly lands between UK and China and I don't think Dell is "stupid" enough to go for a sea freight, or do they?

And what confuses me most is the notification email from Dell that said the package is in transit, as the package is shipped on Nov 1st(original ETA shipping date Nov 4th, which is on a Saturday), but I received an in transit notification email on Nov 5th, was the package actually be picked up in China on Nov 5th or what?

Update, I had received the “planned delivery date” email just now, which says the package will be delivered tomorrow, yet the Syncreon page still says they didn’t receive the package, does that mean the date was fixed?
