m15 R1, AWCC Fusion never loads

I am trying to load Fusion on the AWCC. It never loads; it just displays circling dots. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. The problem continues.

Dell, please help.

Hi @toll_booth  welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Currently Dell Support Drivers & Downloads says that the Alienware m15 series offers the Alienware Command Center (AWCC) Application Version 5.3.2.0, A00 and its AlienFX 2.0 application.

Users are encouraged to NOT update their AWCC version, but to use the fully functional AWCC version installed at the factory. Dell is required to provide its customers with a working version of their AWCC, but frequently fails because they lack the basic understanding of how AWCC compatibility functions within the Windows 10 operating system environment. Unfortunately the AWCC application is not standalone and makes use of Windows 10 Files, Folders and Registry entries, that are also used by other applications. Dell fails to support AWCC and fails provide any troubleshoot application to fix problems with loading AWCC, AlienFX 2.0, AWCC Home, FX, Fusion tabs. The AWCC self repair option does not work, and AWCC self uninstall does not remove all of its multiple files, folders, and/or Registry entries left behind within the Windows 10 operating system.

We have found that Revo Uninstaller Free will fully remove the AWCC (and OC Controls) application and its Advanced Scan Mode will then remove all the left behind items so that AWCC can be installed as if for the first time. AWCC must be installed so that Revo Uninstaller Free can remove it. AWCC might be installed, but fails to load with rotating circle of dots fault condition, use Revo Uninstaller Free.

Download Revo Uninstaller Free and Restart (not Shut Down). Open Revo Uninstaller Free and wait for it to load list of all installed applications on your system. Double click on Alienware Command Center (AWCC) to uninstall, click on create a restore point. Wait for AWCC to uninstall, Scan will change colour, click on Advanced, then click on Scan. AWCC will have two delete windows, click on Select everything, then click on Delete everything. The uninstall process will have completed when no more windows appear. Close Revo Uninstaller Free and wait for AWCC windows to appear and say process is successful. Restart (not Shut Down).

You are now ready to download the AWCC application onto your system, then install AWCC as if for the first time. Wait for AWCC to subsequently load its resources. The OC Controls install windows should automatically appear so that it can be installed and integrated within AWCC. Keep the AWCC window open so that the other resources are installed.

This is the fix for a bad AWCC install. There may be other AWCC problems, and the Reliability Monitor should be used to identify software issues.

Please click on Kudos to say thank you for response from user that is not employed by Dell. Please share an update on progress, so that other users derive benefit from your experience. Thank you.

"AWCC / OC controls not installed correctly (remove and re-install may resolve)" resolved this issue for me on my Alienware R11 system.

Steps I used:

  1. Go to https://www.dell.com/support
  2. "Select the product you need help with"
  3. Select "Drivers & Downloads"
  4. "Manually find a specific driver for your , click on Find drivers,
  5. Select download "Alienware OC Controls Application"
  6. Extract the files and run AlienwareOCControlsInstaller file which prompted to uninstalled which I did, then run again AlienwareOCControlsInstaller which went through the installation process.
  7. Start AWCC and my "Fusion" section now works

Hope this may assist you also.

And if that doesn’t work,

@crimsom crimsom has a solution where you use the Revo uninstaller to really clean out the file for the command center and reinstall it.

Did you ever find a solution? I have the same problem. No matter how many clean installs I do, the problem still persists. I don’t under stand how a gaming laptop has that sort of issue the thermal control should be baked in, absolute insanity.

I have a M15 R3 and it has done the same thing since I bought it.  I can uninstall everything, reinstall everything, and it might work for a day then back to the circles.  After about 5 hours with Dell support, all they want me to do is a fresh reinstall of windows on a 2 month old laptop.  I refuse.  THey need to fix thier software.

I've now (after a long time and help from others on the forum), have seen some of the following issues cause this:

1) AWCC / OC controls not installed correctly (remove and re-install may resolve).

2) The "AWCCService" service is not started up (or is on a delayed start)

3) Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Runtime needs repair (version 2012 or 2013)

3) Kaspersky Total Security interferes with the running of AWCC. This was my issue. Stopping Kaspersky immediately allowed AWCC to load properly. I've tried an alternate provider for antivirus and my problem has gone away completely. Ever find a solution? I have the same problem, M17 R2.  The Fusion overclocking part of Command center never works.

Same problem here.  The new update finally got my AFX lighting to work, BUT not Fusion. Now we have to wait another year and a half for that to get fixed.. oh boy..

ok, I'm going to try the revo again and use those instructions.  Whatever they did in the recent AWCC update worked as far as the FX tab working (at least for me), but why just the Fusion tab isn't working?  They have to figure this out now!

I found the solution boys and it was simple. Go to dell Drivers and downloads. Scan for the drivers. Scroll down and find ACC driver. Download and Install the missing packages. It worked for me
