Frustrated by current generation laptop Arrow key layout

Alienware m16 R2

Alienware m16 R2

This post is providing feedback on the design of all of the current generation of Alienware laptop keyboard layouts.

I've switched to the new m16 R2 from the m17 R4. I've been using it for a solid week now, and I'm still having to completely reprogram my brain to deal with the awkward keyboard layout with respect to the arrow keys. All of this generation's laptops (x14, x16, m16, m18) have adopted the frustrating decision to place the Arrow keys below and to the right of the Enter key, shortening (and effectively offsetting) the Right Shift key. A lifetime of muscle memory of finding the Right Shift key under the Enter key is gone now. And a lifetime of muscle memory of finding keys like quotes and semicolon near the Arrow keys is also lost.

I'm expecting that after some number of weeks I'll eventually get used to this, but this feels like a completely unnecessary ask for your customers to have to adopt. I know Alienware isn't the only laptop manufacturer doing something like this, but it doesn't make it a good idea.

I know everyone has their own preferences, but please reconsider this layout in future. Even if you go for the m18, with all the space in the world to do things right, the same approach was still taken.
