Alienware M16 R1 shuts down on battery under CPU load

Alienware m16 R1

Alienware m16 R1

Hello everyone,

Whenever I boot from the battery and the CPU is subjected to any significant workload, the laptop turns off unexpectedly and doesn't turn on back by itself. This usually occurs just after logging into Windows. This issue does not occur when the laptop is plugged into an AC outlet.

Here's what I've tried so far to resolve the issue:

1) Cleared BIOS settings

2) Reinstalled Drivers and Software from Dell's support page

3) Self-Tests

I ran self-tests while the laptop was running on battery and while it was plugged into AC.

The laptop passes all tests.

However, the CPU test results on thorough mode were different.

When plugged in, the CPU test passed without any issues.

On battery, the laptop shuts off just after starting the stress test.

Interestingly, if I turn on the laptop while plugged in and just after post remove the power cord, the test completes but takes a bit longer. Also the fans are heard spinning much slower, suggesting that it was running at lower clock speed/voltages, explaining the longer time needed.

I was wondering if anyone has ever come across this issue and how it was resolved.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
