15 R3, genuine Dell battery

Alienware 15 R3

Alienware 15 R3

Just wondering what's the part number for 68 Watth battery for Alienware 15 R3  and where I can buy it from in Australia ? There're a lot of 3rd party vendors selling cheap battries but they dont work for more then a few months so this time I want to get a geniuene battery from Dell.

The 68Wh battery is 044T2R and the 99Wh is 09NJM1

@prashkd85  It is going to be very hard to find a new OEM battery as the 15 R3 was released in 2016 so it's a few years past its 'end of life' date, which is usually 5 years after release. Dell would have stopped producing these batteries a few years ago.

Parts-people.com is usually the best source for OEM Dell parts as they buy surplus parts directly from Dell and they ship worldwide. They do not have any stock though.

The other option is to find a local battery store that can repack your current battery with decent cells. The cheap aftermarket ones from China use poor quality cheap cells, hence the poor performance. Not many places repack batteries anymore. I couldn't find one here in Adelaide that was willing to do a few old AW batteries.

I've been looking for an opportunity to hack open these laptop battery packs to fix them myself. You've just given me a reson for it :). Thanks again Matty.

@prashkd85 I was going to suggest not to try doing this yourself as it can be extremely dangerous but it will depend on your level of skill. Soldering on or near Li-ion batteries is very risky. Places like Jaycar should have the batteries you will need.

I've designed battery protection circuits and done plenty of soldering so that part is covered. right now I am just focused getting rid of the current battery pack and see if it makes my laptop more "travel friendly"

@prashkd85 Sounds like you're covered then. Let me know if you can successfully get it repacked. Maybe I can send you some of mine to do ;)
