Best cooling pad for m17xR4?/ how to keep videocard from overheating.

Ive upgraded my m17xR4 to 32gb RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 980m GPU and upgraded mSATA and hard drives to 2tb of space. It kicks *** now, except the fans cant keep up with how hot the video card keeps getting. IT doesnt always overheat but some games trigger it more than others. Basically Ill be playing a game and my fans will start up, increase speed, then start blowing like theyre jet engines and someone just hit the afterburner. I have a Cooler Master NotePal U2 cooling pad to help keep it cool but its still not enough. It works if im in my basement and have a couple ice packs underneath the fans to really cool the air but I personally dont like water melting all around my precious laptop. Ive taken my laptop apart and made sure I have thermal pads on all the chips and reapplied thermal paste. I also made sure the fans are clear of dust and debris. I know its my video card from doing performance tests when installing it the tests read the 980m reaching very high temperatures and the screen will turn black (still lit just black) when it overheats and Ill have to hold the power button and hush my laptop to sleep.

Does anyone know of any solutions that will keep my video card from overheating? I kept the packaging on the Cooler Master NotePal U2 and would like to return it and get a better one if there is one available. I know the U3 has three fans at a slightly slower rpm, would that be the best option? Please help me out!

Which thermal paste did you use? A cooling fan isn't going to help much even if you got the best of the best. As well, Maxwell GPUs are cooler than Kelper GPUs, so there's something else going on that a cooling fan may not help with intensively.

And how's your CPU, just to be safe (please give numbers)?

Im not sure if its Maxwell of Kelper, how would I check this? My CPU is intel i7 2.7GHz overclocked by alienware to 3.49GHz Im not sure how to check the temperature but during graphics stress tests the video card was reaching temperatures of around 80 degrees celcius. The thermal paste I used is IC Diamond 24 Carat Diamond Thermal Compound. It came with the installation kit I bought off amazon.  (link )

The 980m is a Maxwell GPU and has always been Maxwell. Kelper is the architecture used in the older GPUs (2012 to 2013).

I don't see a problem with the temps of the GPU. Those look okay. You can always modify the fan curve/speed with HWinfo (be sure to disable EC support). HWinfo also monitors temps.
