Alienware 14 - Touchpad problem

I've had my Alienware 14 laptop for a few months now, and I recently did something to make my touchpad no longer functional :(

I was trying to clean the touchpad when I saw it looked like had a scratch on it, so I kept trying to get rid of it, but it only got worse. I realized it was the actual touchpad's plastic/top layer of some sort, and I scratched almost half of it off trying to get rid of the look of it being scratched off

Looks like this now:

I do use a usb mouse, so this isn't too bad... but now my touchpad does not respond and just spazzes out when I try to use it. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do, is there such thing as a touchpad replacement?

Thanks

I have the same issue, but I recently called Dell and they said it was a 'billable' item.

I had the impression this was under warranty as the paint shouldn't have come off and damaged the touchpad sensor.
